Frequency of appointments: weekly/ fortnightly 

Minimum time of therapy: 2 months (8 to 10 weekly appointments)

Weekly therapy sessions have a couple purposes: we are finding that regardless of the modalities that the therapist uses, the biggest predictor of change is the relationship the client has with the therapist. This means that feeling safe, feeling heard, and having someone witness your pain, trials, and growth, is a better predictor of growth in therapy than techniques used. I find that when clients start their therapeutic process with me with less frequency than one hour per week, we spend a lot more session time re-building comfort and re-building rapport. It feels like not only are we seeing each other less often, but we are using less of the time allotted to do work, which just slows down the process unnecessarily.

Cancellation policy: I require 48 h notification. It is understood that sometimes sudden events, such as emergencies, happen, that may make it necessary for client to cancel their appointment last minute or fail to attend and are unable to provide notification. On these occasions it is at the therapist’s discretion if a fee will be charged. In general, however, if you fail to give less than 48 hours’ notice of your intention to cancel or postpone an agreed therapy session or if there is a repeat pattern of cancellations/DNA’s I reserve the right to charge in full for that session.
